Homage to Dali’s “Fifty Abstract Paintings...”
2011
Acrylic on canvas
24 x 20 in.
For this project I chose to adopt the geometry of Dali’s Fifty Abstract Paintings Which as Seen from Two Yards Change into Three Lenins Masquerading as Chinese and as Seen from Six Yards Appear as the Head of a Royal Bengal Tiger (1963)

*Owl butterflies are from the genus Caligo, which means: dimness or obscurity of sight. They are a symbol for perceptual illusion.
